    Zlata is currently a third year student in the Dual JD program at the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy. She graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology. Zlata is looking forward to an exciting school year with the Transnational Law Moot Committee!

    Mariane is a current third-year law student pursuing her U.S. JD at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Prior to attending law school, Mariane completed her B.A. in Political Science with a double minor in Leadership and Philosophy along a double certificate in Legal Studies and French at the University of Detroit Mercy. With her leadership skills and expertise, Mariane is excited to host and co-chair this year’s Transnational Law Moot Competition while keeping track of the steps leading up to the big day!

    Jonah is a 3L Single JD student at the University of Detroit Mercy. Prior to beginning his studies, Jonah received a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management with a minor in Psychology at Oakland University. Jonahs current trajectory in his legal career is to pursue the field of criminal law. Jonah is excited to be your Director of Participant Recruitment for this great event, and is looking forward to a great competition.

    Roni is currently a third - year student in the Dual JD program with the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy. She graduated from the University of Western with a double major honours bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology. Roni is very excited to be part of the Transitional Law Moot Committee as the Participant Manager for the 2024-2025 competition.

    Emma is a 3L single JD student at the University of Windsor. After competing in the 2024 moot competition, she eagerly embraced the chance to participate again, this time in a completely new role. Before attending law school, Emma grew up and completed all her education in Montreal, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science.

    Alessia is currently a 3L single JD student at the University of Windsor. Before attending law school, Alessia earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto in Criminology with a double minor in Sociology and Equity Studies. Having participated in the Transnational Moot in 2024, she is thrilled to contribute to the team.

  • Nagin Seyedinasab

    DIRECTOR OF SPONSORSHIP

    Nagin is currently a third-year Dual JD student at the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy. Her academic journey began with a BA (Hons.) from York University, where she majored in Children, Childhood, and Youth Studies and double-majored in Sociology.

    Recently, Nagin participated at the University of Detroit Mercy’s Immigration Clinic, where she had the opportunity to work with asylum seekers and refugees. Currently, she is working with Director Nowak on federal expungement cases.

    Nagin is thrilled to return to the Transnational Law Moot Committee as the Director of Sponsorship!

  • Liza Kazimi

    CHAIR

    Liza is currently a third-year student in the Dual JD program with the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy. She graduated cum laude with a honours bachelor’s degree in Political Science from York University. She has been a part of the Transnational Moot since the very beginning - the inaugural chair of the competition was her mentor! After acting as a law clerk for the first annual Transnational Law Moot, and then being on the executive committee in her second year, she is beyond thrilled to return as Co-Chair in her last school year. Outside of law school, she loves watching and singing opera, horror movies, and her cat Tchaikovsky.

    Cassandra is third-year student in the Dual JD program at the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy. Prior to law school, Cassandra received a Bachelor of Arts from Toronto Metropolitan University in RTA: Sport Media. After, Cassandra received her Masters of Arts in Theatre and Performance Studies where she focused her research on the benefit of theatre arts education in pedagogical studies. Cassandra has previously competed in the Transnational Law Moot, where she was able to advance her oral advocacy skills. This year she is excited to be on the board to help organize an exciting and fun competition!

    CO-DIRECTOR OF FINANCE (DETROIT)

    Nathan is a J.D. Candidate at the University of Detroit Mercy- School of Law. He recently commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Prior to attending law school, Nathan attended UDM for both his bachelors and masters degrees. During his tenure at Detroit Mercy, he proudly represented the Titans in the Horizon League as an NCAA D1 Fencer.

    Kyra is a third-year student in the Dual JD program at the University of Detroit Mercy and the University of Windsor. Prior to law school, Kyra received a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) with a specialization in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from Queen’s University. Kyra loved competing in the Transnational Law Moot last year and is excited to be involved in coordinating the competition this year! Outside of law school, Kyra is an avid knitter and cross stitcher and loves listening to podcasts and spending time with her cat, Cecilia.

    Guy is a current third-year law student pursuing his Canadian and American JD simultaneously though the combined program offered by the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy. Prior to attending law school, Guy completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) at McMaster University. Guy is ecstatic to be joining the executive team for the third annual Transnational Law Moot as Director of Judge Recruitment, and is looking forward to a successful competition.

Ashley is currently volunteering at Wayne County Third Circuit Court's Self-Help Center in the Family Law Division. In her free time she loves doing arts and crafts, playing with her dog, and visiting the Great Lakes!

  • Lilah "Lily" Vassilenko

    Chair

    Lily is a current third-year law student pursing both her Canadian and American JD simultaneously through the combined program offered by the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy. Prior to attending law school, Lily completed her B.A (Hons.) in Psychology at Ryerson University where she contributed to two academic publications. Lily is thrilled to be the Chair for the second annual Transnational Law Moot, and is excited to showcase the skills Dual JD students have to offer.

  • Reine Hamdar

    Director of Judge Recruitment

    Reine is a third-year student at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Last summer, she served as a Legal Extern for the City of Detroit's Civil Rights, Inclusion, and Opportunity Department, and for the Salvation Army's William Booth Legal Aid Clinic. This term, she has been appointed to the American Bar Association as the TIPS Law Student Vice Chair of the Litigation and Trial Practice Committee, and the American Inns of Courts as a Pupil. She looks forward to serving members of her community and playing a role in this year's amazing Transnational Moot Committee as the Director of Judge Recruitment.

  • Sajal Verma

    Director of Event Management

    Sajal is a third-year dual JD student at the University of Windsor and Detroit Mercy Law. During his law school tenure, Sajal worked to provide low-income residents with access to legal services through the Community Legal Aid project. During his undergraduate degree, Sajal was passionate about social entrepreneurship and worked to create start-ups that decreased barriers among marginalized communities. In his downtime, he enjoys cooking and watching movies.

Currently, she is a legal intern at a small boutique law firm. Jasmine is very excited to be a part of the Transnational Law Moot Committee as the Director Social Media and Technology! In her free time she loves spending time with her family, taking her dog on a walk, and watching Netflix!

Before law school, Marni attended Wilfrid Laurier University and received a Bachelor of Arts in honours political science with a minor in criminology and a legal studies specialization. Outside of law school, Marni enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her four dogs.

  • Mark Klein

    Government Relations & Outreach Coordinator

    Mark is a third-year law student, and this is his second year serving as the Government Relations & Outreach Coordinator. Mark has a vast experience in politics and state government. His work at the state level has included serving as an aide during the COVID-19 crisis, through which he assisted the Chairman of the Michigan Ways & Means Committee, and helped lead the effort in the state legislators' United States Supreme Court Amicus Brief for the Dobbs v Jackson Women's Health Organization case. Also, Mark had the opportunity to advise public officials on strategic issues, and he moderated political debates in some of the most contested races in the State of Michigan. He looks forward to helping expand the outreach of this historic and unique moot, and looks forward to seeing its continued expansion in the future.

  • Daniel Crane

    Co-Director of Finance (Detroit Mercy)

    Daniel is a second-year student at the University of Detroit Mercy Law School who is on track to graduate by Spring of 2024. Prior to pursuing his JD, Daniel worked in public accounting for five years, specializing in income taxation for flow through entitles along with planning for trusts and estates. As Co-Director of Finance, Daniel is excited to help contribute to the TLM Committee and help plan the best event possible.

    Emily Lum is a second-year dual JD student at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Political Science and Economics. In addition to TLM, Emily also volunteers her time with other school organizations including Women and the Law and Law Students Without Borders.

  • Nickta Jowhari

    Nickta is a third year Dual JD student at the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy and the Founder of the Transnational Law Moot. Her vision and tenacity has been a driving force behind the success of the Transnational Law Moot. Nickta is extremely excited to chair the first ever moot between Windsor and Detroit, which will serve to inspire future generations of cross-border litigators.

    Talissa Mohamed is a second year Dual JD Student at University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy. Having status as both a Canadian and an American, Talissa is passionate about the Dual JD program particularly for the added multi-jurisdictional lens to her law school experience. When she isn’t doing readings or participating in moots, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones and outdoor activities.

  • Cameron Ho

    Cameron is a JD student at the University of Windsor. Cameron has found that the planning and execution of The Transnational Law Moot has been an incredibly unique experience regarding the law and transnationalism. He is extremely honoured to be a part of a wonderful team of talented individuals working to create a solid foundation for this historic Moot.

  • Emily Nolan

    Emily is a Dual JD student at University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy. Throughout her law degree, she has participated in the Patrick A. Keenan Memorial Appellate Advocacy Competition, the G. Mennen Williams Moot Court Competition and the Canadian ALTA Moot. Emily is excited about contributing to the inaugural Transnational Law Moot and its work in inspiring future transnational lawyers.

  • Mark Klein

    Mark is currently a second-year law student. During his time in law school, he served as a legislative staff member in the Michigan House of Representatives where he helped draft public policy and an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court. He is excited to be a part of such a historic new moot court competition and looks forward to participating in years to come.
